Something different to the others is this nicely styled cabinet from Glow Warm, with a lower upper power output than most full-sized cabinets 3.8kW instead of 4.2kW means the 15kg gas bottle will last longer when using this heater on the maximum setting, for most medium-sized rooms you won't notice the heat difference.
The build is the same as most budget heater cabinets nowadays, thin steel and a tinny feel, but the fully perforated front gives it a distinctive look, and it's certainly worth considering at this price.

This B&Q offer is one of the many imported generic Calor gas heater cabinets available under many different brands.
What makes this one stand out is the 2-year guarantee and the ease of return to B&Q if you have any problems with it.
Lighting issues: When you get a new Calor gas heater the system is full of air which has to be purged, so the heater will not light immediately.
Once the bottle is fitted depress the dial for about 30 seconds before attempting to light it, if it does not light keep the dial depressed and press the ignite button every 5 seconds until it lights. Once lit keep the button depressed for another 10 seconds.

Camila 4.2kW Calor Gas cabinet
- Italian made
- Robust sturdy build
- Takes 15kg Cylinder (not included)
- Battery powered ignition
- Anti-tilt safety feature
Read Full Review Today's mass-produced Calor Gas heater cabinets are not as sturdy as the old types, the steel is thinner and they just feel 'tinny'. The Camila is different, Italian made using quality British and European components it is a sturdy and robust heater cabinet that is built to last. It has battery ignition which is ideal for those who find the piezo ignition heater lighter buttons too stiff. The heater has 3 heat settings (1.5, 2.8 & 4.1 kW), battery ignition, oxygen depletion and anti-tilt safety systems. The controls work well, it is set on casters for easy movement, the gas on-off switch at the rear can be a bit fiddly, but since the change over from the old tap valve system to a lever on-off switch this is true of most budget Calor Gas heaters now. Uses a 15 Kg bottle (not included), hose & regulator included. Suitable for rooms up to 60 Cubic meters. Read Less

Clarke MGH1 from Machine Mart.
- Robust construction
- 4.2kW max heat output
- AAA battery ignition
- Oxygen depletion system
- Integrated castors for mobility
- 3 heat settings
- Hose and regulator included.
Read Full Review The Clarke MGH1 is what you would expect from Machine Mart. Aimed at the home workshop/garage market it is made from thick coated steel and is sturdy and well-finished. The cabinet feels very solid, is mounted on good quality castors and is easy to wheel around, even with a full gas bottle inside. The controls are top-mounted and easy to use, for those who don't like using piezo ignition the battery ignition button is softer to press and gives a fat healthy spark. The flame control is simple, press down when lighting that's heat setting 1 and just turn the dial for settings 2 and 3. It comes with a flame failure device and oxygen depletion detection as standard. The only fault we can find is it takes around five presses of the igniter to light the pilot, but that's true for most of the portable Calor Gas heaters we've tested. We would prefer a couple of locking casters on it too, apart from those minor issues this is a splendid heater, ideal for use as the main heater and not just as a backup. Dimensions: 73 cm high, 42 cm wide, 35cm deep. Read Less

Campingaz CR 5000 Catalytic Gas Heater
- Clean burn flame-less technology.
- No Carbon Monoxide or Nitrogen Oxide emissions
- 100% efficient, turns all gas to heat
- 3Kw heat output, 3 heat settings
- Piezo ignition
- Flame failure device
- Oxygen depletion system
- Supplied with a hose and regulator.

Read Full Review A catalytic gas heater uses flameless modern technology to burn gas, making it super efficient by turning almost 100% of the gas energy into heat. It is also safer as no live flame is involved andno poisonous Carbon Monoxide or Nitrogen Oxides are produced The most efficient modern open flame Calor Gas heaters will convert a maximum of 80% of the gas it burns into heat (the rest is lost as waste gases) meaning that 20p of every £1 you spend on gas is wasted. Some traditional Calor gas heaters are only 50% to 60% efficient so buying a catalytic heater makes good economic sense. This Campingaz model delivers 3kW and has 3 heat settings, piezo ignition, flame failure device and an oxygen depletion system. It is robustly built, finished in coated steel & mounted on castors for easy manoeuvrability. Note: Occasionally when first using a catalytic gas heater you may notice a smell, this is due to manufacturing oil residue left on the catalytic element being burned off, which will disappear in a short while. When not using the heater always cover it, this prevents dust settling on the catalytic element and preserves the life of the heater Dimensions: 78 cm high, 45 cm wide, 35cm deep. Suitable for rooms up to 60 Cubic meters. Read Less

- 4.2 kW heat output with variable settings.
- Piezo ignition
- Oxygen depletion system & anti-tilt switch off
- 4 castors

Read Full Review The Calor Gas Super Mini Heat is the UK's best selling compact heater, but it only has a maximum 2kW output. We prefer the Lifestyle compact heater. it is slightly wider, slightly shorter, about £20 cheaper and delivers a whopping 4.2kW max, as much as a full sized heater cabinet. Designed for the smaller space it is sturdy and reliable with a well-finished cabinet, this is a durable long-lasting product and we have had reports of satisfactory use after 5 years or more. This light and compact popular heater is ideal for the smaller room or wherever you need to warm up a cold spot. It uses a 7Kg Gas cylinder and has an approximate burn time of 23 hours if used on the max (4.2kW) setting Because of the Lifestyles size, it is very popular for use in caravans and mobile homes (as long as they are adequately ventilated), the 4 casters make it easy to move. Available in red or black. Dimensions: 58.42 cm high, 41.9 cm wide and 26.67 cm deep (43cm with back bottle support fitted). The Calor gas Super mini measures 58.9 cm high, 33 cm wide and 34 cm deep. A standard Calor gas cabinet is suitable for living spaces and office/shop environments.
A workshop or garage needs something a little more robust as many are poorly insulated, the average 4.2Kw heat output of a standard full-sized cabinet might not be enough.
Machine Mart supply high-quality, competitively priced commercial-grade heating appliances suitable for both the home and commercial workshop.
The Clarke Little Devil 2 is a compact propane-fired space heater, ideal for small workshops, sheds, garages and other working areas.
This heater is lightweight and features a handy top-mounted handle so it can be carried around easily. Despite its small size and weight, the Little Devil 2 produces 10kW heat output, easily enough to get workshops of up to 100m3 to a comfortable temperature quickly and efficiently.
My garden workshop is approx 30' long x 15' wide x 8' high and my little devil 2 keeps it nice and warm. It comes complete with a regulator and a heavy-duty gas hose.
Note: You must have a safety zone clear of any combustible substances at least 1.83m (6ft) in front to the sides and above this heater and a gap of at least 0.61m (2ft ) at the rear.
Not advised for use in dusty workshops, dust (any dust) is inflammable and we recommend using panel heaters in these environments.
Dimensions: Length 46.5cm, Height 32.5cm, Width 21cm wide x 37 cm deep Weight 5.4 kg. Recommended bottle size 19Kg or 47Kg for extended use.

Lifestyle Living Flame Heater
- Coal effect fire bed
- Takes 15kg butane bottle
- 3.5kW heat output with 3 heat settings
- Electronic (battery) ignition
- Flame failure device
- Oxygen depletion system.

Read Full Review Many of our visitors like the various 'living flame' coal effect Calor gas heaters, they now stock 2 the Provence, (we review on this page) and Manhatten. The Thurcroft has been discontinued, but some are still available if you search around They are all very well made and stylish, but: The Provance at around £280* does use a 15 kg bottle but only delivers 3kW maximum heat and weighs 34kg, without a bottle on board. It is more suited to country kitchens or the cottage lounge ( which Calor gas claim it is designed for) than the average house. The Thurcroft, while being the best-made Calor gas heater on the market, only took a 7kg bottle and put out a mere 2.6kW max heat, with a maximum bottle life of 51 hours and costs an eye-watering £600+ if you can get one. The Manhattan, with a 3.4kW max heat output comparable to the Living Flames 3.5kW is similar in design, however, the Manhatten sells for around £325* compared to the Living Flames £249.99* If you want a Calor heater with a coal effect bed we recommend the Living flame as a good budget choice, we have excellent feedback on performance and build quality and our consumer testers have had theirs since November 2021 and as of this winter (2022/23) it's still working perfectly. Dimensions: 70 cm high, 40 cm wide and 29 cm deep (without the bottle). * Prices are Jan 2023 Read Less

Thurcroft Portable Gas Heater
Arguably the best Calor Gas Heater ever made, it is now discontinued but some suppliers may still have a few.- Top quality manufacture
- Long-lasting, 10+ years is not unusual.
- Real flame bed.
- 2.4kW heat output with 2 heat settings.
- Piezo ignition.
- Includes hose and regulator.

Read Full Review With the look and feel of a traditional stove heater, no bulky cylinder sticking out (the cylinder is concealed behind the rear door), and genuine flames dancing about over a realistic bed of 'coals' behind the front glass window. There are others with the same styling, but what sets the Thurcroft above the others and makes it by far the most popular of its type is the superb build quality. As expected from a firm with the history and solid reputation of Flavel we have some customers still singing its praises after 10 years of use. It has proven to be one of the most durable portable gas heaters ever made. The Thurcroft real flame portable gas heater has a traditional "retro-style" stove design. Please note: To preserve the longevity of this heater Flavel advise that should be serviced at least once a year by a registered engineer. Failure to do so will invalidate any guarantee. This was always a large demand for this heater so stocks went quickly. Now they are discontinued, and the few held by suppliers are selling in excess of £600. The Flavel company was established as an iron foundry in 1777 and have been making cooking and heating appliances for 300 years. Today Flavel gas fires are manufactured by BFM Europe in England in a purpose-built manufacturing plant using the latest technology. This heater might not have the 4+ kW heating output of the more common cabinet heaters, or the larger cylinder capacity (15Kg), but what it does have is charisma in bucket loads.
Available in matt black, it has a 2.6 kW rating and 2 heat settings, piezoelectric ignition, and there are both flame failure monitoring and oxygen depletion safety features an 'airwash' burn system keeps the glass clean. The Thurcroft will operate for up to 51 hours on a 7 kg gas bottle.
