You may have on a thick jumper and skirt or thin trousers and so have cold legs and need a bit of extra warmth for your lower limbs.
Using a radiant or fan heater to warm up your feet is risky, a radiant heater has to be far enough away not to burn you and a fan heater will blow warm air up your body as well, where it's not wanted.
Both types of heater also pose a fire risk if you use them in a confined space such as under a desk or too close to a chair.
Here is the solution, at only 51 cm high, 40 cm wide and 30 cm deep when folded into a U shape this personal panel heater slips easily under a desk.
Made from a carbon crystal heating film sandwiched ina 3 panelled lightweight non-woven fabric and nylon frame with removable feet.
Its low power (165watts) means you can sit very close to it without burning yourself or posing a fire risk and keep your feet & legs nice and warm, its lightweight at only 2kg (2 bags of sugar) means it can be easily moved around.
It has a nicely designed touch panel control unit and 3 temperature settings
You can even drape the supplied blanket over it (not recommended with any other portable heater) as illustrated.
It is equipped with two safety devices
- An ant- tilt switch turns it off if knocked over
- Unmanned protection, if used for 3 hours continuously it will automatically switch off, so no worries if you leave and forget to turn it off.
This is the ideal foot-warming heater for the elderly and invalids as well as office and general use.

This fibre cement board panel heater was invented in South Africa by a father & son team in 1990, it was designed to be a low cost durable and flexible heating solution.
Today the Econo-Heat panel has won many awards for design innovation, is sold worldwide and the company produce up to 2 million units per year.
In terms of price, running costs and effectiveness it is one of the worlds best heating products.
At 400 Watts it has extremely low power consumption but maximizes heat distribution by using the space between the panel and wall to generate a convection current, as well as radiating heat from the front like a standard panel heater.
Because it is heating the air in the room as well as the objects in front of the panel. This 400-watt panel can effectually heat a 20 m2 room. For larger rooms use more panels.
The Econo-Heat can be painted, once mounted you can blend it into your decor.

Mounting it is extremely easy, drill 4 holes in the wall, push the mounting lugs into them put the heater onto the lugs then push in the locking pins, no screwing and it's light enough to be fitted by one person.
Ideal for tenants as at the end of the tenancy it can easily be removed and the holes filled, so no upset landlord and lost deposit.
Available with the separate e-controller unit which has:
- A timer pre-programmed with 4 preset hour-by-hour modes (with customized input if required)
- Programmable Thermostat:
- Easy to use and program, custom timer & temperature settings
- ECO mode saving a further 20% of electricity, by turning the heater on & off intermittently while retaining 97% heating efficiency
- Child safety lock.

The Econo - Heat Panel is available as a stand-alone unit or with full accessories, it comes with a standard 3 Year guarantee.
This panel heater is for wall mounting only and is not recommended for bathrooms. Because it uses the wall gap to create a convection current it will cause air movement circulating some dust in your room.

Klarstein HeatPal Freestanding Marble Infra-red Panel heater
Scoring: Value for money 10: Safety 10: Build quality 10: Ease of use 10: Noise 1: Styling 8. Customer Satisfaction rating 100%

We've included the Klarstein HeatPal in our Panel Heater section as it uses a heated natural marble slab to radiate heat.
The slab is held upright in a wide footed (for stability) cage and is heated by a 1.3kW aluminium heating element. The slab stores heat and will keep radiating with the power turned off. This coupled with the variable thermostat make it quite economical to use.
It is a little heavy at around 11.3kg (25lbs) and would be ideal for a cold spot in a large room, or as the main heater in a smaller space such as a study.
The heater works like a portable storage heater and it can be heated up and moved into a space with no power supply and will keep radiating heat ( length of time depends on the room temperature).
It has a thermal cut out to prevent overheating, an anti-tilt switch which will turn it off if knocked over and an anti-frost function.
This is an unusual and very effective heating solution, so far we have great reports and the one we borrowed for testing was quite impressive.
The Heatpal is not splash rated so is not suitable for bathrooms. As it keeps radiating heat when switched off it is not suitable very small spaces.
Dimensions: Height 67cm, Width 48cm, Depth 25cm. Weight 11.3kg
All products sold by Klarstein are sold as new and are covered by a 2-year warranty from your date of purchase, terms & conditions apply, see the Klarstein website for details.
