Weber iGrill

Using the Weber iGrill 2

I love Barbecuing, whether I'm wrapped up on a cool Autumn evening in a thick coat with a woolly hat on or sweating it out in high summer  wearing an apron over shorts and a T, for me it's any excuse to fire up the BBQ and get grilling, that includes Christmas day cookouts (when its not raining).

Like most backyard grill chefs my big fear is leaving the grill unattended, now I've switched to gas I don't have to worry about flare ups cremating the food anymore,  see my article on why we recommend gas BBQs.

I worry that if I leave the grill for more than a few minutes I might get

  • Too high a temperature and  get charred food on the outside and raw inside or carbonized veg and shoe leather steaks.
  • Too low a temperature and instead of a crispy coated juicy chop or steak I serving up  a dry chewy mess.
  • Too little grill  time = Raw food
  • Too much grill time = Burnt food

Using a decent thermometer and food probes are one way of checking that your temperature is right and your food is cooking as planned, see my article on why you need a BBQ thermometer , but even with wireless probes you still have to keep an eye on the grill.

While I love cooking I wish I could spend a little more time away from the grill and enjoying the party fun with the rest of my guests.

This is why I was so interested when  Weber®, the worlds No.1 Barbecue grill maker, claimed to have come up  with a handy little gadget to help me do just that.

You can also use the Weber iGrill app as a way of staying connected with other iGrillers across the globe, share pictures of your grill triumphs and share notes from iGrill users around the globe.
